The National Aphasia Association reported on a potential breakthrough for tDCS in the treatment of aphasia.
A new study conducted by doctors from the University of South Carolina and the Medical University of South Carolina will use tDCS together with speech therapy to treat aphasia; they are currently in the process of moving toward a larger clinical trial after initial findings reported that the response to the aphasia treatment was more than doubled for patients who received the tDCS compared to placebo stimulation.
The results of this study may have implications on how tDCS can be implemented in the future for stroke treatment and rehabilitation at a larger scale.
